My name is Alex. I have lived in California my entire life. I grew up on the Central Coast and went to the University of California, Santa Cruz, for my undergraduate degree. I majored in Biochemistry and worked as a lab rat in Biotechnology for about seven years. In college, I experimented with Game Maker and made a few little sidescrolling games and felt I had a knack for engineering.
I've built a solid foundation by taking coursework from Codecademy, Udemy, FreeCodeCamp, and recently finishing App Academy's Bootcamp curriculum. The technologies I use most frequently are Javascript, React, Redux, NodeJs, Ruby, Rails, Html, Css, and I am continually learning. Where I once would carry out experiments in a research laboratory, I can now apply the scientific process in the domain of web development from my computer - with a lot quicker turnaround.
